Privacy Policy – RoomScannerAR

RoomScannerAR (“the App”) is developed by Mathew Malyil (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.

1) Camera (AR & Privacy Scan)

The App requests access to the device camera to enable:

• AR-based room scanning and measurement
• Lens reflection detection (Privacy Scan feature)

• Camera input is used only while the App is active.
• All processing occurs on your device.
• We do not record, store, upload, or transmit camera images or video.

2) Magnetometer / Magnetic Field Sensor (Wall Scan)

The App may use your device’s magnetometer for the Wall Scan feature.

• Sensor readings are processed locally on your device.
• We do not store or upload magnetometer data.
• If your device lacks a magnetometer, this feature may be limited.

3) Vibration

The App may use vibration for user feedback. No personal data is accessed.

4) Local Storage (Projects & Exports)

• Room measurements and project data are stored locally on your device.
• No project data is uploaded to our servers.
• File export/sharing occurs only when you choose to share.

5) Data We Do NOT Collect

• Location data
• Contacts
• Microphone/audio
• Advertising identifiers
• Analytics or tracking data
• Personal account information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share user data with third parties.

6) Third-Party Services

RoomScannerAR uses Google ARCore (by Google LLC) to enable augmented reality functionality. Google ARCore may collect diagnostic or device information as described in Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

7) Data Retention & Deletion

• All project data remains on your device.
• You may delete projects within the App at any time.
• You may remove all App data via: Settings → Apps → RoomScannerAR → Storage → Clear Data.
• Uninstalling the App removes stored local data.

8) Security

Because the App does not require account login and does not upload personal data, user information remains on your device unless you choose to export files.

9) Children’s Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Since no personal data is collected, the App is suitable for general audiences.

10) Feature Disclaimer

Wall Scan and Privacy Scan features provide guidance only. They are not guaranteed detection tools and may produce false positives or false negatives. Results should not be relied upon for professional security, construction, or safety decisions.

11) Terms of Use

RoomScannerAR is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Measurements and detection results are estimates.

The developer is not responsible for inaccuracies, misuse, device limitations, hardware differences, or environmental factors affecting results.

12) Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated periodically. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
