Malakh is an offline nearby communication application. Core nearby messaging operates directly between nearby devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and does not require an internet connection, mobile data, or central servers.
Ensure Malakh has permission to scan, connect, and advertise nearby devices in your Android system settings (Settings > Apps > Malakh > Permissions). On Android 11 and earlier, Location permission is required by Android for Bluetooth scanning.
Confirm that Bluetooth is turned ON on both devices. Toggling Bluetooth OFF and ON can assist if nearby devices are not immediately discovered.
For optimal discovery and message exchange in the current release, keep Malakh open and active on the screen on both participating devices.
When connecting to a peer, compare the Short Authentication String (SAS) represented by matching emojis on both screens. Verifying that the emojis match helps confirm the intended peer and detect possible interception.
